Product Description

Nanny Care First Infant Goat Milk Powder

Age: 0 months +

Size: 900g

Country Of Origin: New Zealand

Description: A formula milk alternative for babies that provides all the nutrition and benefits of Goat Milk to offer them the best start in life. The New Zealand goats that provide the milk are grass-fed pastures and raised without the use of hormones, stimulants or growth enhancing drugs in their healthy diet. This provides a natural milk that is processed and fortified with essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals including iron, folic acid, vitamins A, C and D which support the health, developments and growth of babies at this important time. The nutritional qualities of goat milk naturally make it very gentle on tiny stomachs owing to the low levels of the protein alpha-s1 caesin which makes the curds in the milk smaller and softer. The low level lactose NANNYcare Milk powder’s softer curds and amino acids are more efficiently absorbed in to the digestive system, unlike cow’s milk, making it a formula milk option for babies with a lactose intolerance or allergy*. Nanny Care Goat Milk also has smaller droplets of fat and double the amount of medium-chain fatty acids in comparison to the fat presence in cow’s milk, which further supports the ease of digestion, reduced gut inflammation and permeability, in young infants.

After my wife was unable to continue breastfeeding our little man I went on a mad hunt for formula that wasn’t sugar, skim milk and canola oil. Anyone that has looked into formula’s in the US knows what I am talking about. It is a crime what passes off as “nutrition” for children in this country. I will now get off my soap box and hopefully tell everyone good news that they may not know. Udderly is an amazing site that has amazing products and amazing service. Nanny Care specifically is one of the amazing products. Goats milk has less casein than cows milk, which makes it closer to human breast milk. Goat milk also has a higher concentration of beta-palmitate, one extremely important triglyceride in human breast milk that was only discovered a few short years ago. The first ingredient is whole goat milk solids, which means those important fats are left in instead of skimmed off and replaced with vegetable oils as in most other formulas. Human breast milk has an extremely high concentration of it, in the ballpark of 40-60% of the total saturates. Cows milk is more like 20%, and even less if the cows are not grass fed and pasture raised. Goats milk is more like 40-50%. The typical palm oil in formula is a sad attempt at realizing this important fat or just an underhanded tactic to fool parents that don’t read pubmed for fun. Palm oil/kernel oil does not have the proper isomer (beta-palmitate) in any appreciable concentration (something like 1%).
Goat milk also may have a better concentration of alpha-lactalbumin than cows milk. Alpha-lactalbumin is the main protein in human breast milk. It is a very specific constituent of whey protein, which goats milk has more of and has more of this specific protein that cows milk.
The goats are pastured. Lactose is the carbohydrate source- just like human breast milk. It has added Taruine that is important in CNS development. It is missing probiotics, but I add those in anyway because formulas don’t have enough or the right ones in them. Long story short, I am a biomedical engineer and this is the formula I feed my little man (mixed with a few other things, but this review is already annoyingly long).
This site has the best price I have found, delivers in less than 3 days so you can have the “oh no! we are low on formula!” moment and get it delivered before you run out.
Long story even longer- great stuff, great site, great service!
